Eco Friendly & Green Home Building Contractors - Page 2

In today’s day and age, both individuals and whole communities are striving to reduce the impact they create on the environment. One of the key ways in which they are making this happen is by building eco-friendly homes - homes that go beyond the previously “standard” efforts of energy efficiency and green practices. Eco-friendly home building today goes right to the basics and incorporates resource conservation, renewable materials, waste reduction and healthy indoor environments from the ground up. This allows homeowners to enjoy a host of benefits, from less energy costs to more comfort and from better air quality to less pollution.

Instead of just focusing on one aspect of housing, eco-friendly home building looks at every aspect and gives it a more sustainable approach to create a better experience. First of all, the materials used in such homes are largely biodegradable, easily renewable or already recycled, i.e. bamboo, oak or linoleum. The flooring and furniture also utilize materials like reclaimed wood, which reduces the amount of deforestation. These types of homes also have multiple sources of water conservation, such as rainwater harvesting and greywater recycling, as well as water-efficient landscaping practices, such as using native plants and drip irrigation, can further minimize the need for irrigation and reduce water waste. Organic paints and adhesives, as well as the use of natural fiber in carpets and tapestries are used to create a healthier indoor environment. Last but not least, installation of solar panels and using wind turbines and heat pumps helps generate clean energy that is fossil-fuel-free.
